CNC Recruitment is working with a leading manufacturing business within the aerospace and defence sector to recruit an Industrial Maintenance & Facilities Operative. This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on individual who enjoys a varied role and takes pride in maintaining a safe, organised and efficient working environment. You'll play an important part in supporting the day-to-day operation of the site by carrying out general maintenance, facilities support and site improvement tasks. No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working independently and getting involved across different areas of the business.

As an Industrial Maintenance & Facilities Operative, you'll be responsible for maintaining the company's premises, supporting facilities management and ensuring the site remains safe, clean and operational. Working closely with production, engineering and management teams, you'll carry out a wide range of maintenance, housekeeping and practical support tasks that contribute to the smooth running of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general building maintenance, minor repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the site, ensuring work areas remain safe, clean and organised.
  • Undertake grounds maintenance, including external upkeep and waste management.
  • Build and install shelving, storage solutions and workspace improvements.
  • Safely move equipment, materials, furniture and machinery around the site as required.
  • Carry out basic non-qualified maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, minor repairs and general upkeep.
  • Support cleaning and environmental maintenance to ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards.
  • Conduct routine site inspections, identifying maintenance issues and reporting potential hazards.
  • Assist with office and production area moves, layout changes and improvement projects.
  • Liaise with management regarding repairs that require specialist contractors.
  • Ensure all tools, equipment and maintenance materials are used safely and stored correctly.
  • Support the wider operations team with additional facilities and maintenance tasks as required.

What We're Looking For

Experience

  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance, site maintenance, building maintenance or a handyman role.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment would be advantageous.
  • Confident using a range of hand tools and carrying out general repairs.
  • Experience of manual handling and practical maintenance work.
  • Forklift licence is desirable but not essential.

  • Good practical maintenance and repair skills.
  • Basic understanding of building maintenance and facilities management.
  • Knowledge of workplace Health & Safety procedures.
