CNC Recruitment is delighted to be working with an innovative manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Senior Maintenance Engineer .

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional to take ownership of engineering operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement across a busy production site. Alongside maintaining production machinery and facilities, you'll play a key role in exciting engineering and re-engineering projects, supporting the development of new products and manufacturing capabilities.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role offers genuine variety and the opportunity to make a significant impact on operational performance.

The Role

As the Senior Maintenance Engineer, you'll lead the day-to-day engineering function, ensuring production machinery, equipment and facilities are maintained to the highest standards.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills, along with the ability to drive continuous improvement, reduce downtime and support future engineering developments across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production machinery and site facilities.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise production downtime.
  • Support the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Programme, maintain and troubleshoot industrial equipment, including PLC-controlled machinery and specialist manufacturing equipment.
  • Ensure production machinery and engineering systems operate safely and efficiently.
  • Support engineering, re-engineering and new product development projects.
  • Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades, capital investment and process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records, maintenance schedules and documentation.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and external contractors.
  • Promote a proactive Health & Safety culture and ensure engineering activities comply with company standards.
  • Work collaboratively with production, operations and product development teams to improve manufacturing performance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and facilities.
What We're Looking ForExperience
  • Strong background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
  • Previous experience maintaining and repairing industrial or manufacturing machinery.
  • Hands-on fault-finding and troubleshooting experience within a production environment.
  • Experience maintaining site facilities and engineering infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with CNC machinery, PLC-controlled equipment or specialist manufacturing machinery would be advantageous.
  • Experience managing internal engineering improvement or facility upgrade projects is desirable.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities.
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance principles.
  • Knowledge of industrial machinery, automation and manufacturing equipment.
  • Practical understanding of facilities management and building maintenance.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or PFMEA methodologies would be beneficial.
  • Visual Basic programming experience or the willingness to develop these skills would be advantageous.
