Location: Yeovil (On-site)

Salary: £14.50 per hour during probation, increasing to £14.95 per hour upon successful completion of probation, plus a 22.5% shift premium once fully trained and working shifts.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (38 hours per week)

About the Role

CNC Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Special Surface Treatments Operator to join a growing Aerospace & Defence manufacturing team based in Yeovil. This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist manufacturing environment where full training will be provided across a range of surface treatment processes. The successful candidate will become a multi-skilled operator, supporting the production of high-quality aerospace and defence components while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and compliance.

Working Hours

  • Training Period (Day Shift): Monday to Thursday: 7:30am - 4:30pm, Friday: 8:00am - 12:00pm
  • Once Fully Trained Rotating Shift Pattern: Week 1: 6:00am - 2:00pm, Week 2: 2:00pm - 10:00pm (Alternating weekly.)

Shift Premium & Overtime

  • Shift Premium Early/Late Shift: 22.5% added to the basic hourly rate.
  • Overtime Saturday & Sunday: 50% uplift on the basic hourly rate. Weekend overtime is available from the start of employment but is not guaranteed.
  • Shift enhancements apply once training has been successfully completed and you have moved onto the rotating shift pattern.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process aerospace and defence components through specialist surface treatment processes.
  • Support Heat Treatment operations.
  • Assist with Electroless Nickel Plating (ENP) processes.
  • Carry out Chemical Conversion Coating.
  • Perform Anodising and Passivation processes.
  • Jig and prepare components for treatment.
  • Complete liquid masking and abrasive blasting.
  • Prepare surfaces prior to treatment.
  • Handle chemicals safely in accordance with COSHH regulations.
  • Monitor treatment processes and maintain accurate production records.
  • Complete operator inspections and quality checks.
  • Work from engineering drawings, technical specifications and work instructions.
  • Support laboratory activities where trained and authorised.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
  • Work flexibly across different treatment processes to support production requirements.

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good practical and hands-on skills.
