CNC Recruitment are looking for a skilled and reliable Quality Engineer to join our client in Yeovil, a well-respected aerospace engineering company.

Pay: £40,000 - £45,000 Per Annum

Working hours: Monday to Thursday 8.00am - 5.30pm and Friday 8.00am to 12pm

Job Type: Temp to Perm (Permanent after 16 weeks)

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer with strong experience in Health & Safety to support and enhance our Business Management Systems while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This role will play a key part in supporting our Quality Manager in driving continuous improvement, reducing risk, and promoting a culture of quality and safety across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality
    • Develop, implement, and maintain Business Management Systems (BMS) in line with AS9100 standards.
    • Conduct internal audits and support external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
    • Analyse quality data, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
    • Lead root cause analysis investigations using tools such as 8D and FMEA.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes, reduce defects, and enhance product reliability.
    • Support in the management of customer returns, ensuring timely investigation and implementation of robust preventative actions.
    • Support initial and ongoing supplier approval management.
  • Health & Safety
    • Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures to mitigate workplace hazards.
    • Promote a strong safety culture through training, awareness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformities, ensuring thorough reporting and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
    • Maintain and improve Health & Safety management systems.
    • Support the management and completion of inspections where required.
  • Environmental
    • Support adherence to all applicable environmental legislation, including ROHS & REACH.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Quality Engineer role within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and standards (e.g. AS9100).
  • Minimum Internal Auditor certification (ISO9001 / AS9100).
  • Demonstrable experience in Health & Safety practices and UK legislation.
  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving methodologies (e.g. Root Cause Analysis, 8D).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Proven experience in a Quality Engineer role within an aerospace environment.
  • Lead Auditor certification (ISO9001 / AS9100).
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent Health & Safety qualification).
