CNC Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Construction Estimator / Purchaser to join our reputable client based in the Ilminster area. This is a permanent, full-time position ideal for a motivated individual with a strong background in construction estimation and materials procurement. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting construction projects from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and accurate project estimation in line with client specifications and budget constraints Job Types: Full Time Permanent Location: Ilminster area Working hours: Monday to Friday, day shift – 40 hrs per week [overtime available] Pay: DOE Responsibilities: Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates based on tender documentation and architectural/engineering drawings. Developing cost plans, design-to-cost budgets, and feasibility studies to support project planning and client decision-making. Reviewing and interpreting structural and architectural drawings to produce precise material take-offs. Conducting supplier negotiations to source quality materials and ensure value for money. Maintaining close communication with project managers, engineers, and site supervisors to align on materials and costs. Monitoring project costs and updating forecasts throughout the lifecycle of the build. Ensuring all procurement complies with internal policies and aligns with project schedules. Evaluating and managing suppliers and subcontractor performance Experience: Proven experience in construction estimating and/or purchasing, ideally within structural and secondary steelwork sectors. Strong knowledge of construction materials, industry pricing, and supply chains. Proficient in reading and interpreting technical construction drawings (architectural and structural). Familiarity with current building regulations, standards, and tendering procedures. Exceptional analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail. Excellent organisational and communication abilities. Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
