The Role
We are currently hiring for an Underwriting Manager in our London office to lead the Marine Cargo underwriting team and drive profitable growth across the portfolio through strong leadership, broker engagement and strategic underwriting decisions.
What You'll Be Doing
- Team leadership: Lead, coach and develop a team of underwriters, driving high performance and capability growth.
- Portfolio management: Oversee underwriting activity and pricing strategy to deliver profitable business outcomes across the Marine Cargo book.
- Broker engagement: Build and maintain strong broker relationships to support business development and market presence.
- Strategic contribution: Influence underwriting policy, regional initiatives and business strategy to support growth objectives.
- Governance & reports: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and provide clear performance reporting to senior management.
What We're Looking For
- Leadership capability: Proven ability to lead, coach and develop underwriting teams in a complex environment.
- Technical expertise: Advanced knowledge of Marine cargo underwriting and insurance principles.
- Desirable expertise: T&L (Transport & Logistics) and/or Marine Equipment experience.
- Communication skills: Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and presentation capabilities.
- Analytical thinking: Ability to assess risk, solve complex problems and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Regulatory awareness: Solid understanding of legal and regulatory requirements within insurance markets.
