Position Summary

Under close supervision, learns claims adjusting practices by participating in formal, informal or on-the-job training for a specified period of time.

Supports the team in applying the CNA Hardy claims strategy to provide a market leading claims service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiates and agrees claims within designated authority and with management supervision, liaising with underwriters, adjusters and brokers
  • Reviews policy coverages and claims documentation in accordance with company guidelines and standards to determine if coverages apply, escalating issues as needed.
  • Interacts with claims personnel on issues relating to specific claims and other topics concerning the claim handling of claimants and insured.
  • Effectively manages loss costs and claim expenses.
  • With assistance manage the appointment and performance of experts and outsourcers.
  • Maintains all claims records accurately and efficiently
  • Maintain and adhere to the claims philosophy, processes and guidelines
  • Report on claims matters as required to the Claims Management and underwriters
  • Maintain professional service standards at all times; protecting and promoting the CNA Hardy brand
  • Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure, at a level appropriate to the position, that appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.
