We are seeking to hire a Professional Indemnity Claims Examiner to join our London office. The role works under broad supervision, investigates and maintains claims within the discipline. Works within authority on assignments of moderate technical complexity. Reviews coverages, determines liability and compensability, secures information and settles claims utilising claims policies and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Interprets policy coverages and determines if coverages apply to claims submitted, escalating issues as needed.
- Sets activities, reserves and authorises payment within scope of authority, settling claims in most cost effective and timely manner. Ensures prompt issuance of disbursements while effectively managing loss costs and claim expenses.
- Participates in performing investigations and evaluating claims through contact with insureds, claimants, witnesses and experts.
- Identifies and escalates serious claim developments to management efficiently and effectively.
- Partners with legal counsel, account representatives, brokers, underwriters and insureds to develop a focused strategy for timely and cost effective resolution of claims.
- Develops and maintains strong broker relationships.
- Recognises need for negotiation, participates in planning strategy and negotiates within scope of authority.
- Analyses claims activity and prepares reports for management review.
- Responsible for input of data that accurately reflects claim circumstances and other information important to our business outcomes.
- Keeps current on relevant issues, regulations and trends.
- Complies with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensures, at a level appropriate to the position, that appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.

- Prior experience of managing Professional Indemnity Claims.
- Knowledge of claims and insurance industry theory and practices.
- Developing technical expertise, product specific knowledge and negotiation skills.
- Ability to negotiate and settle claims effectively.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA Hardy's internal and external business partners.
- Ability to work independently. Good time management skills.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrates attention to detail.
