The Role

We are currently hiring for an Assistant Underwriter in our London Office to support underwriting teams in delivering the business plan while developing technical underwriting expertise and contributing to client and broker relationships.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Underwriting support: Assist in renewals and new business within delegated authority, contributing to business plan delivery.
  • Relationship management: Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, reinsurers and market stakeholders including Lloyd’s.
  • Business development: Identify new business and cross-sell opportunities to support growth ambitions.
  • Data & reporting: Maintain accurate records, validate systems data, and support reporting of financial and performance metrics.
  • Operational support: Collaborate with underwriters and claims teams to monitor portfolios and support effective business control.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Underwriting experience: Minimum 12+ months in an Underwriting Assistant or similar role with exposure to underwriting processes.
  • Technical capability: Understanding of risk analysis, pricing, contract wordings, claims and insurance principles.
  • Analytical mindset: Strong numerical, statistical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships and influence effectively.
  • Professional development: Progress towards or completion of CII or equivalent Insurance learning.
