The Role
We are currently hiring for an Accounting Manager in our London Finance team, reporting to the Financial Controller. In this role, you will take ownership of underwriting results reporting and the month-end accounting process, ensuring accuracy, integrity and strong financial control across complex insurance data.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Underwriting results delivery: Lead the timely and accurate production of monthly, quarterly and annual underwriting results across premiums, claims, reserves and acquisition costs.
- Month-end ownership: Manage and continuously improve the end-to-end month-end accounting process, ensuring strong controls and efficient delivery.
- Financial control & reconciliations: Oversee reconciliations and technical balance controls, ensuring completeness, accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Team leadership: Lead, develop and motivate a small team of accountants, driving high performance and collaboration.
- Stakeholder collaboration: Partner with FP&A, actuarial, reinsurance and regulatory teams, as well as auditors and head office, to deliver accurate financial insights and reporting.
What We’re Looking For:
- Professional qualification: Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
- Technical expertise: Strong knowledge of insurance accounting, including Lloyd’s and company market principles.
- Leadership capability: Proven experience managing and developing accounting teams.
- Analytical strength: Ability to interpret complex datasets and solve problems effectively.
- Systems & tools: Advanced Excel skills, with exposure to systems such as Alteryx, SQL or financial platforms advantageous.
