Senior Underwriter

We are seeking to hire a Senior Fine Art & Specie Underwriter to join our London team. Under clear leadership and direction, underwrites a broad range of moderate and complex risks in a book of business. Works within specific limits of authority on assignments requiring technical complexity and coordination. Utilises underwriting policies and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations while finding creative solutions. Key Responsibilities Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure that, at a level appropriate to the position, appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance. Review applications and financial requirements for risks requiring sophisticated underwriting skills. Determine acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines and standards. Define appropriate pricing based on financial and competitive analysis in line with compliance requirements. Prepare quotations and answer questions from Brokers, policyholders or other external contacts and escalate issues to management, along with proposed solutions as necessary. Negotiate with Brokers to achieve positive and profitable outcomes. Notifiy Brokers of adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and declinations.
