The Health Care Assistant/Camp Leader will be a part of the welfare team on site and oversee the welfare of the players with regards to injury, illness and other welfare jobs when required. The Health Care Assistant/Camp Leader will work under the guidance of the Nurse and assist them with the appropriate storage, administration and record-keeping of players’ medication. Assist the Nurse in providing first aid and medical assistance to players on the camp. Help the Nurse keep up-to-date records of all illnesses, injuries and administer medication each week.
Work with the Nurse to communicate and liaise with other welfare staff to pass on relevant information about players in their care on a need-to-know basis. Be one of the designated first aiders on site. Keep a record of medical equipment and re-stock when necessary. Provide support and guidance to all staff when dealing with illness and injury. As needed, support welfare staff with communication regarding well-being, illnesses, injuries, and any treatment plans in place. Be the sole person responsible for medication administration when the nurse is off-site (this may include evenings and weekends). Be part of the wider welfare team. Contribute to a safe and positive environment which supports players’ learning whilst having fun. Guide players through their week on camp, ensuring that they are in the right place at the right time and enjoying their experience with us. Along with the rest of the welfare team, supervise players during free time and organise evening activities.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
All staff will contribute to the overall smooth running of the camp. Ultimately the safety of children is paramount, and the high standards expected of working with top brands needs to be maintained. We expect high personal standards, friendly, positive, and approachable staff who will always remain professional and calm. Staff will be able to handle sensitive situations well, adhering to confidentiality and data protection guidance, have excellent organisational skills, be good role models and be able to contribute to a positive working environment.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Have medical experience – Nursing student or graduate.
- Worked in medical settings i.e. on work placements or as a HCA.
- Have previous experience working in a professional capacity with children.
- Be proactive to any unforeseen medical situations which may arise on camp.
- Medical certificates are desirable.
Please note this role requires you to live residentially at one of our sites. Our sites are Radley College, Bradfield College, Charterhouse School, Lancing College, Repton School. It is a 6 day contract with one day off. Our camps run from the 1st of July to the 18th of August and we require staff to be able to work two consecutive weeks minimum (Monday - Friday).
