Are you an experienced Project Manager looking for your next opportunity in Portsmouth? The ISS team at CMS2 are seeking a Project Manager to manage their respective customer accounts and projects of various sizes and scales—across activities, teams, and functions within CMS2—to deliver exceptional sales and support service. They will also serve as the customer's primary contact for all relationship requirements, ensuring they are aware of all available solutions for equipment availability, configuration, upgrades, issue resolution, and obsolescence management—delivering a support solution in a controlled manner. In this respect, the role holder will be responsible for opportunity identification, proposal compilation, and delivery of solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the oversight of a portfolio of In-Service tasks & projects and related customer account sales and support, reporting status and customer satisfaction as required.
  • Accountable for the relationship management of their respective customers.
  • Lead teams of in-house resources required for various projects and life support contracts.
  • Take the lead on compiling sales proposals, with support from the technical and commercial teams if needed, to address customer issues and solutions including cost estimation and CMS2 management approval process.
  • Responsible for financial planning, tracking, and forecasting multiple parallel assigned projects for each customer account.
  • Lead effective relationship management with customers through weekly/monthly In Service Support meetings identifying issue resolutions and improvements.
  • Maintain close ties to both CMS2 Engineering teams and the customer base to ensure the role is a conduit to ensure they have equal access and knowledge of emerging issues and developments to increase equipment availability and performance.
  • Manage customer escalations for issues and concerns and strive to continually improve.
  • Work closely with CMS2 operational teams to ensure planning and delivery to customer requirements.
  • Represent the business externally at customer, partner, and end user sites to enhance and strengthen the profile and reputation of CMS2.
  • Responsible for the creation, maintenance, and presentation of project information to various stakeholders, including customers, Senior management team, project teams.
  • Ensure technical requirements and challenges are resolved using Engineering, wider ISS team and own knowledge as appropriate.
  • Accountable for the customer accounts project's management and delivery within the CMS2 project life cycle process.
  • In conjunction with the ISS Technical Manager develop and implement effective in-service support strategies and plans in-line with the ISS Directors and overall business strategies and ISS contracts.
  • Support the business via the management of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), obligations and SLA’s including reporting, PRB & resourcing discussions with management and resource owners.
  • Customer management and reporting on assigned projects.
  • Ensure buy-in from stakeholders to project plans and proactively manage impact resolution/reduction.

  • Support with process and tool improvements.
  • Provide support for colleagues during peak times or during absence.
  • Maintain continuous professional development to ensure knowledge is up to date.
  • Act as an ambassador for the company in all interactions with customers and the public.
  • Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Demonstrable professional knowledge of working in a fast-paced customer centric support environment.
  • Demonstrable professional knowledge of working in Project/Programme management.
  • Management experience, ideally in a complex highly regulated engineering environment.
  • Proven track record of managing projects to Time, Cost and Quality.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence others, including building and maintaining effective relationships with multiple stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Strong presentation skills, confident speaker and professionally presented.
  • Attention to detail, forward planning and budgeting/financial knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the full project life cycle stage-gate principles of project delivery.
  • Ability to work with diverse project teams and stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of risk and opportunity management and lessons learned processes.

Desirable

  • Qualified in industry standard Project management methodologies (APM or similar).
  • Degree qualified or demonstrable relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of processes involved in planning and strategy, organisation, and governance.
  • Experience within an Engineering role.
  • Experience of working within the Defence or similar Industry.
  • Understanding of Matrix Management.
  • Previous experience of an ERP/MRP system.
  • Experience within a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Business transformation/process improvement experience.
  • Working knowledge of CMS2’s products and their maintenance and how they are operated in service.

Role travel requirements

The duties of this appointment relate to the UK, but you may be required to travel when required by the Company. It is not envisaged that you shall be required to work outside the UK for more than one month. Some customer visits may be required outside of the UK.

Other requirements

  • Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
  • Candidates must have passed UK security clearance to Security Check level or be able to obtain this level. This normally requires 5 years residence in the UK.
