CMS are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, dedicated Assistant Paralegal or Paralegal to join our Legal Services Unit team in our Glasgow or Edinburgh office. The Legal Services Unit is the central paralegal team at CMS, assisting the associates and partners across the different Practice Groups within the firm on a wide variety of tasks and projects.

About the role

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a diverse range of lawyers and clients across the UK, while gaining exposure to multiple areas of law including Employment, Litigation, Banking, Corporate, Technology & Media and Real Estate to name just a few.

The successful candidate will be assisting with a broad range of work across the LSU team. Examples of the type of work you could be involved in are:
• Reviewing documents for relevance in the context of litigation disclosure exercises.
• Assisting with document reviews in relation to data subject access requests.
• Various tasks related to contentious workstreams, such as preparing disclosure and hearing bundles of documents for employment tribunal cases.
• Preparing first draft documents.
• Reviewing or redacting contracts.
• Verifying information.
• Extranet site set up, uploading and management.
• Supporting the drafting and submission of documentation for corporate transactions, including company searches and related filings.
• Assisting with the coordination and execution of large-scale projects across multiple practice groups, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of legal support.

About you

· Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is essential for reviewing contracts and ensuring accuracy.

· Organisational and Time Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously and to prioritise conflicting deadlines.

· Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for interacting with lawyers, clients, and other stakeholders.

· Team Player: Ability to work well in a team whilst using your own initiative.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Familiarity with Word, Excel, and other relevant software.

A degree in law or equivalent qualification or previous paralegal experience is preferred.
