The Role

As a Lead .NET Developer, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing, building, and delivering scalable, cloud-first software solutions that power real-world delivery operations. You’ll lead a squad of 4–6 developers, providing technical direction, mentorship, and hands-on development expertise. Working closely with Product, QA, and DevOps teams, you’ll ensure clean, reliable, and high-performing software delivery while driving best practices and continuous improvement across your team and the wider engineering function. You’ll have ownership over key projects from concept to release, using modern tools and frameworks to evolve a platform critical to modern commerce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a squad of 4–6 developers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence
  • Architect, design, and develop .NET Core / .NET 8 applications within a cloud-first SaaS environment
  • Drive CI/CD pipelines and manage releases using Azure DevOps, MSBuild, Octopus Deploy, and Docker
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, and Business Analyst teams to deliver technical solutions aligned with business objectives
  • Conduct code reviews, ensure adherence to best practices, and maintain high standards of quality and performance
  • Configure and optimise new customer integrations and scalable APIs
  • Manage your JIRA backlog, plan sprints, and ensure timely, high-quality delivery
  • Run SQL queries and provide analytical insights to support business and product decisions
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks, supporting architecture and strategy discussions with senior stakeholders
  • Continuously improve development processes and advocate for modern engineering practices

Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years’ experience developing in ASP.NET C# (.NET Core / .NET Framework)
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring a software development team
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Cloud services, microservices, and event-driven architectures
  • Proficient in Web APIs, REST, MVC, and data formats such as XML/JSON
  • Strong experience with SQL databases, query optimisation, and data modelling
  • Front-end understanding – HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap
  • Experience with Azure Service Bus, Docker, gRPC, or Elasticsearch
  • Familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, and branching strategies such as GitFlow
  • Skilled in unit testing, integration testing, and continuous deployment pipelines
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative and proactive mindset
