We have an excellent opportunity for a Patent Attorney to join our team. The position will offer great breadth of experience and development opportunities, as afforded by the infrastructure of a top tier law firm. Our IP group is already one of the largest teams in Europe for patent and trade mark work. We have qualified patent attorneys working alongside IP, litigation, corporate and commercial lawyers.
About The Role
We are currently looking for a qualified European Patent Attorney to join our busy London based team. Ideally you will be at least 2 years post qualification and also have full UK qualification.
Key Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To)
- Drafting patent applications, preparing office action responses and EPO opposition and appeal work.
- Liaising with clients and overseas attorneys.
- Undertaking legal research as and when required.
About You
You will ideally have experience in and be comfortable handling a range of biotech and chemical subject matter. However, individuals with a bias towards either will be considered. You will have an excellent academic record – minimum 2.1 degree (or equivalent). A degree in biochemistry or molecular biology, or equivalent, is preferred but other related subjects will be considered. An interest in the use of AI and computing in the life sciences would also be preferred.
Attention to detail and thoroughness is as important as a motivated and enthusiastic attitude. Flexible in attitude and approach to work. Is able to demonstrate effective organisational and prioritisation skills. At times the successful candidate will be working to tight deadlines and under pressure and will be required to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
Effective team player - able to work effectively in an established, close-knit team. Demonstrates an enthusiastic and engaged attitude, with excellent people skills and a good, clear communication style. Able to form strong working relationships across all areas of the practice. Willingness to assist across diverse technical and legal areas.
