About us

CMS is a Future Facing firm with more than 80 offices in over 45 countries and 5,800+ lawyers worldwide. We combine deep local market understanding with a global perspective. We are passionate about building strong relationships with our clients, our people, and the communities we work in.

We take a bold, dynamic, and agile approach to ensure our clients are able to face the future with confidence. We are driven by emerging technologies such as generative AI and readily embrace the possibilities it opens up for developing new and better ways of working. Our aim is to inspire, impact and support our clients and our people, helping them to maximize their potential and thrive.

About the role

This role presents a rare opportunity to join a thriving and collegial team with an extensive track record of delivering top-tier legal services to a varied and prestigious client base. The team focuses predominantly on M&A (cross border and domestic) and has one of the City's busiest and top-ranked public M&A practices. Its longstanding clients include blue chip listed companies including FTSE 100 constituents. A broad range of sectors are covered including real estate, industrials, hospitality, hotels, food and beverage, airlines, media and technology.

As part of our team, the chosen candidate will have the benefit of a supportive and collaborative environment in which to develop their expertise, refine their strategic thinking, and cultivate lasting professional relationships. In addition, joining us provides exposure to a broad array of sophisticated legal mandates from both UK-based and international clients, enabling the successful applicant to enhance their skillset and accelerate the development of their career in one of London's most competitive and stimulating legal markets.

About you

We will invest in your ongoing training and development to support your professional goals and help you to thrive in your role from day one. The successful candidate will be driven by excellence, possess a deep commitment to professional development, thrive in a team environment, and demonstrate an ambition that matches the firm's own dedication to growth and innovation.

The ideal individual will have outstanding academic credentials and proven experience in a City-based or other leading law firm. A robust grasp of company law principles, combined with keen analytical ability, top level work ethic and meticulous attention to detail, is vital. Public M&A and/or ECM experience, although not critical, would be seen as an advantage.

The successful candidate should exhibit readiness to advise on complex transactions, delivering creative, pragmatic, and commercially astute solutions. Furthermore, the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, coupled with a desire to forge new client connections and develop a broad practice, will be essential attributes for success within this role.
