ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) Technician

An opportunity has arisen within the ESD department of a multinational engineering company for an experienced technician to join a team for assemblers, testers and engineers to ensure the manufacturing of highly sensitive electronic components are protected from ESD.

Routine periodic ESD testing of the manufacturing areas is carried out in order to reduce the risk of damage to these sensitive components.

Responsibilities of an ESD Technician

  • Support the site ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) co-ordinator in day to day activities
  • Support compliance verification ESD protective measures
  • Maintenance of ESD database
  • Support ESD co-ordinator to carryout periodic ESD internal audit
  • Support departments periodic ESD measurements as defined by the company directive
  • Collate periodic measurements and Upload to ESD database
  • Ensuring that all equipment and procedures conform to the standard
  • Support in ESD training
  • Identified and report ESD non-conformances in the manufacturing areas
  • Remedy failures

Job skills/qualifications required for an ESD Technician

  • Strong Knowledge of ESDS (Electrostatic Discharge Sensitive Device)
  • Basic use of electronic measuring instruments such as Ohm meter and Megger.
  • Basic wiring skills
  • Good Excel and Word skills essential
