CMS is looking for a dedicated Paralegal to join our Legal Services Unit and support the UK Real Estate team. The position will be based in Sheffield, Manchester or Liverpool.
Responsibilities
- Manage a busy caseload of transactions, including short‑term leases, licences to occupy, licences to assign, licences for alterations, surrenders, deeds of variation/easement and rent reviews.
- Handle straightforward purchases and sales (auction sales, residential plot sales) and support larger, complex, or portfolio transactions, covering project management, title and tenancy diligence, and completion preparation.
- Carry out title and occupational lease review exercises and assist with preparing reports and certificates of title.
- Assist with file opening procedures, drafting first retainer letters and ensuring compliance with money‑laundering regulations.
- Set up and manage data rooms.
- Support completion and post‑completion registrations, forms, filing and client signing/reporting requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong academic background: degree in law or equivalent preferred (not essential). Working toward CILEX acceptable.
- Previous experience as a paralegal in a Real Estate legal environment.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to prioritise conflicting deadlines.
- Detail‑focused, proactive, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
