Overview
Test Technician Design Assurance Team – 6 month fixed term contract (Potential for Extension) at CMR Surgical. Reporting to the Design Assurance Group Lead, this on-site role in Cambridge involves testing of instruments to support innovative medical devices and the goal of making minimum access surgery available to everyone who needs it.
Responsibilities
- Life testing and design verification of instruments and consumables following pre-defined instructions and using a variety of custom and standard test equipment.
- Maintaining records of work and writing test reports and other documentation.
- Monitoring and reporting test progress to the Design Assurance Lead and Task managers, as required.
- Reprocessing medical devices using manual cleaning, Automated Washer Disinfectors, and Autoclaves.
- Identifying and helping develop process improvements to streamline test activities.
- Contributing to the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Building test jigs and fixtures.
- Stocktaking and maintenance of lab inventory levels.
We’d expect you to be willing to turn your hand to anything that helps CMR deliver its objectives.
About you
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have/be:
- Proven practical experience of high-tech assembly and test (preferably within a regulated environment such as medical/pharmaceutical, automotive or aerospace).
- The ability to keep accurate records, e.g. serial numbers, test reports, etc.
- Good computer literacy; experience with command line operations and remote desktop applications would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with using measurement and test equipment.
- Keeping labs stocked with components and tools, and ensuring labs are kept tidy.
- Management and maintenance of test and measurement equipment.
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical/electronic drawings and to follow these to assemble the required product or test rig.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools including Word and Excel.
- Understanding the importance of collaboration and working closely with peers and cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
- Effective communications and the ability to ensure messages are clear to stakeholders.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- A can-do attitude for a variety of tasks.
