At CMR Surgical, we are revolutionising the future of minimal access surgery with Versius, our next-generation surgical robotic system. We are growing fast, and we’re on a mission to transform how surgery is delivered globally—for the benefit of patients, clinicians, and healthcare systems. Our values—Ambitious, Humble, People-Focused, and Fair & Responsible—define our approach to innovation, partnership, and growth.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate, or equivalent, to get hands-on experience testing real-world systems and seeing how new designs move from concept to reality. As a System Verification Test Technician, you’ll be part of a collaborative engineering team responsible for testing and verifying new system designs. You’ll help make sure systems work safely, reliably, and as intended by running formal test procedures, exploring new features, and documenting results.
You’ll work with both hardware and software, use a wide range of lab equipment, and gain experience in structured testing within a regulated environment — with plenty of support and learning along the way.
Responsibilities- Execute test protocols based on system, user, and risk requirements
- Carry out hands-on testing of complex systems and sub-systems
- Create clear, well-matched technical test reports following Good Document Practice (GDP)
- Set up, use, and help maintain test rigs and environments (hardware, software, or both)
- Log bugs and issues, and communicate findings to project and team leads
- Track and report test progress as part of a wider project team
- Take part in exploratory testing for new features and designs
- Work closely with others to suggest improvements to test processes and ways of working
No two days are exactly the same, and you’ll be encouraged to get involved wherever you can to help the team succeed.
About YouWe’re looking for someone curious, practical, and keen to learn. You don’t need to tick every box — training and mentoring will be provided. You’ll ideally have:
- A qualification such as Degree, HNC / ONC (or equivalent) in an engineering or technical subject
- An interest in hands-on testing of complex products or systems
- Some experience (from study, projects, placements, or work) with manual testing or structured test procedures
- Familiarity with lab or electronic equipment (e.g. multi-meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes)
- A methodical approach and attention to detail when recording results
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to help where needed
We offer a competitive salary and a great benefits package including a bonus, non-contributory pension, private healthcare, generous annual leave allowance and enhanced global parental leave pay.
