Together with our surgical instruments and consumables, these make up the Versius surgical robotic system. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to play a key role in the development of complex medical devices, working in a truly multidisciplinary environment while helping us deliver on our mission to transform the future of surgery.
This role is offered on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of three days per week based in the office.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of product enhancements and new products in accordance with formal design control procedures, supporting successful introduction into manufacture.
- Take ownership of significant mechanical design work packages, from concept generation through detailed design, prototyping, verification and release.
- Design mechanical parts and assemblies in SolidWorks, applying solid and surface modelling techniques as appropriate.
- Develop practical, manufacturable solutions for a range of production methods including machining, sheet metal and injection moulding.
- Build and test prototype products and test fixtures, interpreting results and refining designs where required.
- Create, update and review mechanical drawings and product configuration documentation to a high standard.
- Write and review technical reports to support product development, verification and design review activities.
- Investigate product issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including systems, software, electronics, manufacturing and quality, to deliver robust product solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and peers.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of departmental tools, processes, standards and engineering methods.
We’re a fast-paced company and as such roles change and evolve. We’d expect you to be willing to turn your hand to anything within the Technology function that helps the team deliver its objectives.
