Our client, a well-established book distributor, is seeking a diligent and detail-focused Part-Time Finance Assistant to support the smooth running of the finance function. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on accuracy, enjoys variety and takes ownership of maintaining organised and reliable financial records.
Part-Time: 9:30am – 2:30pm Monday to Friday
The responsibilities of the Part-Time Finance Assistant include but are not limited to:
- Purchase Ledger: Process supplier invoices, match stock invoices to purchase orders, manage supplier payments, and handle supplier queries professionally.
- Expenses & Mileage: Check, verify and process employee expenses and mileage claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policy.
- Company Credit Card: Reconcile all company credit card transactions, ensuring complete documentation and accurate posting.
- Sales Ledger & Credit Control: Match customer payments to the ledger, reconcile customer accounts, respond to queries, and support credit control activities by email and telephone.
- Bank Reconciliation & Month-End: Reconcile bank accounts daily to maintain accurate financial reporting and assist with month-end tasks, including preparing financial statements and reports.
Skills, Experience & Key Candidate Attributes of the Part-Time Finance Assistant:
- Previous experience in a finance or accounts role, with confidence handling ledgers, reconciliations and financial processes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies independently.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience using finance or ERP systems.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, with a professional approach to handling supplier and customer queries.
