Our client, a well-established and growing business within the dental sector, is seeking an organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys taking ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the smooth running of a busy company.
You will play a key role in ensuring financial processes are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
The responsibilities of the Bookkeeper include but are not limited to
- Managing sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring all transactions are accurately processed and reconciled.
- Posting and allocating customer payments, responding to account queries, and issuing customer statements.
- Conducting credit control activities, including chasing overdue payments and monitoring debtor accounts.
- Processing supplier invoices and payments, including foreign currency transactions.
- Reconciling bank accounts, expenses, company charge cards, and financial ledgers.
- Preparing VAT returns and supporting monthly and year-end reporting processes.
- Producing regular financial and KPI reports for the management team.
- Acting as the main day-to-day point of contact for external accountants and finance-related queries.
Skills, Experience & Key Candidate Attributes of the Bookkeeper
- Previous experience in a Bookkeeper, Finance Assistant, or similar accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of sales ledger, purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, and credit control.
- Working knowledge of UK VAT and experience preparing VAT returns.
- Good Excel skills and experience using accounting, finance, or ERP systems.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to liaise with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently while managing deadlines.
- AAT qualification (or working towards) would be advantageous but is not essential.
