Our client, a well-established and growing accountancy practice, is seeking an experienced Audit Senior to join their expanding Audit team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified auditor looking to take ownership of client engagements while continuing to develop their technical expertise and leadership skills.

Working closely with Managers and Partners, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality audits across a diverse portfolio of clients, acting as a trusted adviser and helping to develop more junior members of the team.

The Role

As Audit Senior, you will be responsible for managing audit assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring work is delivered efficiently, accurately, and in line with professional standards. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading audit fieldwork across a varied client portfolio.
  • Supporting audit planning activities, including risk assessments, scoping, and testing strategies.
  • Preparing and reviewing audit files and working papers to a high technical standard.
  • Identifying audit risks and key findings, escalating issues where appropriate and recommending practical solutions.
  • Producing audit-related deliverables including financial statements, completion reports, management letters, and audit summaries.
  • Acting as the primary contact for clients during audit engagements, building and maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Supervising, mentoring, and developing junior team members through on-the-job coaching and support.
  • Monitoring assignment progress against budgets and deadlines.
  • Assisting Managers with the completion and final review of audit engagements.
  • Contributing ideas and initiatives to improve audit processes, efficiencies, and client service delivery.
  • Keeping up to date with changes to auditing standards, FRS 102, and wider regulatory developments.

About You

The successful candidate will have gained solid audit experience within an accountancy practice environment and be confident managing multiple assignments simultaneously. You'll ideally possess:

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years' audit experience within practice.
  • Experience leading audit fieldwork and reviewing work completed by junior colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Technical Skills

  • Sound knowledge of UK auditing standards and FRS 102.
  • Experience using audit software and cloud-based accounting platforms such as Xero and QuickBooks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to build strong client relationships.

Qualifications

Essential

  • ACA or ACCA finalist, newly qualified, or qualified.

Desirable

  • Strong progression through professional examinations and a good academic background.
