The Role
My client, a well-established and growing provider of outsourced payroll and contractor services, is looking to bring in a Head of Finance to take full ownership of their finance function. They support recruitment agencies, SMEs, and contractors with payroll, employment, and compliance solutions, so experience in high-volume payroll environments (umbrella/contractor models) would be particularly valuable here. This is a hands-on position with a mix of day-to-day finance and broader oversight. You will be key in keeping everything running smoothly while also helping shape and improve financial processes as the business continues to scale.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing the day-to-day finance operations
- Handling and reviewing bank reconciliations and cash matching
- Overseeing credit control and supporting cash flow management
- Managing supplier payments and general financial transactions
- Monitoring expenses and overall company spend
- Maintaining accurate records and strengthening financial controls
- Working closely with senior leadership to provide insight and reporting
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies
What They’re Looking For
- Background in finance within payroll, umbrella, recruitment, or contractor services
- Strong experience with bank reconciliations and cash matching
- Experience managing credit control and supplier payments

- QBE, part-qualified, or fully qualified (AAT / ACCA / ACA)
