The Role
As Operations Director , you will work closely with the Managing Director (MD) and Financial Director (FD) to manage and optimise day-to-day operations, driving efficiency and performance across the business. You’ll be responsible for overseeing key functions such as payroll delivery, client relationships, and operational processes. This is a challenging, high-impact role requiring a strategic mindset and experience managing large-scale operations with thousands of contractors.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of day-to-day business operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery across all departments.
- Lead and manage operations teams, driving performance and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Work closely with the MD and FD to implement business strategies, focusing on scaling the business and improving processes.
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance for large volumes of contractors (10,000+).
- Develop and monitor KPIs, operational processes, and performance metrics to ensure business goals are met.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders to drive innovation, enhance service delivery, and increase operational efficiency.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to streamline operations and reduce costs.
- Act as a strategic partner to the MD and FD, providing insights and recommendations to support business growth and scalability.

- Experience: Significant experience in the temporary labour market (ideally in a payroll company or recruitment agency), with a strong understanding of large-scale operations.
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading and managing operations teams, ideally with exposure to handling large volumes of contractors (10,000+).
- Skills: Excellent problem-solving, strategic planning, and decision-making abilities.
- Operational Expertise: Deep understanding of payroll processes, compliance, and the intricacies of managing high volumes of contractors and clients.
