CML are on the lookout for a Site Manager to support a growing portfolio of works on the Southern Frameworks, to manage rail structures schemes such as Civils and scour works on a day to day basis, including: paper work, materials, equipment, labour and sub-contractors.

Your Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement site specific management plans, with an emphasis on the importance of Health & Safety at all times.
  • Manage Network Rail and rail related infrastructure contracts.
  • Ensure the high quality of works on site.
  • Update weekly progress on site programme and site drawings, sharing these with the Project and Contracts Managers.
  • Plan and coordinate effective deployment of allocated personnel and resources.
  • Accept, control and reconcile works materials and equipment.
  • Implement site safety documentation and contract plans to the clients’ requirements and specification.
  • Promote and implement site specific management plans, ensuring site activities comply with CML policies.
  • Provide guidance and advice to site personnel for competent execution of contract works.
  • Analyse and report contract performance weekly reports and weekly returns.
  • Liaise with the Project Manager and Commercial team to enable financial recovery.
  • Manage site sub-contractors and sign timesheets for work completed.
  • Administration and completion of site paperwork, records and Head Office returns.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years’ experience as a Site or Construction Manager in the Civils/ Rail sector (essential), and will be looking for career progression towards Project Management. We are also looking for:

  • Knowledge of structures and properties refurbishment/reconstruction/new construction works, station building and platforms renewals, culvert and drainage renewals, masonry repairs and strengthening, surface preparation and painting.
  • Strong technical knowledge.
  • A strong communicator who is able to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and day to day operations on multiple schemes.
  • Experience of planning/programming for working in abnormal/disruptive possessions.
  • SMSTS or Equivalent – Essential.
  • PTS and COSS/PIC.
  • Experience of working for a principal contractor in South East/London/Kent - Desirable.
  • Civil Engineering qualifications (HNC / HND) – Desirable.
  • First Aid.
