Responsibilities

  • Report to the Transport Office at the start of shift for briefing
  • Comply with and follow all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety requirements, hygiene standards, and driver handbook guidelines.
  • Ensure all paperwork and pre-checks are completed accurately and in full.
  • Ensure daily vehicle checks are completed in line with company procedure
  • Ensure defects are reported promptly and that all defect reports are completed accurately and in full when required.
  • Always comply with all tachograph rules and regulations and promptly report any infringements.
  • Effectively manage working time in compliance with the Road Transport Directive and tachograph regulations.
  • Responsible for unit and trailer, including temperature checks and recording
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of Transport Department operations.
  • Always maintain a high standard of behaviour and appearance.
  • Make deliveries to customers’ premises, always acting in a professional manner
  • Observe and adhere to site procedures at each delivery & collection point
  • Report any issues with delivery or collection arrival times, delays, or load discrepancies immediately.
  • Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
  • Ensure regular communication with the Transport Office / Customer Services
  • Any other duties as reasonably required
  • Achieve and succeed fuel efficiency targets set by the business

Qualifications

  • Possession of LGV Class C+E Licence and valid DCPC
  • Minimum 6 months experience driving LGV
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Adaptable and methodical approach to work/ training
  • Conscientious and reliable
  • Professional and approachable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
  • Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines
