We are now looking to recruit for a Gatehouse Operative at CML Telford on a Full time and permanent position.

To provide site access control in a busy warehousing environment ensuring that all visitors, contractors and haulage drivers are controlled and thoroughly briefed upon entry to the site according to company policy.

To enhance the overall security of the site, the safeguarding of all company resources and assets and to contribute to the overall health and safety of all colleagues, visitors, guests, contractors and all in-board and out-board traffic.

This role requires a high level of attention to detail and involves regular use of computer systems to complete a range of administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.

This role must therefore be proficient in the use of technology and computers.

General responsibilities Welcoming and the booking in and out of all visitors, guests and contractors ensuring site safety briefs are conducted and recorded, including the issue of security passes.

Electronically recording all in-board and out-bound vehicles into the main secure truck yard and directing to ensure the efficient movement of vehicles whilst on site.

Carrying out a range of essential administrative tasks to ensure all essential and relevant checks are made in-line with the site procedures and deadlines.

Understand all fire procedures and actions in the event of alarm activation.

Liaising between emergency services and outside agencies in the event of an incident.

To act as a visual deterrence against potential criminal elements.

To report all incidents and occurrences through the chain of command when necessary.

Conducting safety conversations.

Briefing drivers on behaviour and expected standards when on site.

Gatehouse and access control monitoring.

Conducting vehicle and load checks.

Liaising with other departments regarding load discrepancies.

Monitoring temperatures on trailers.

Administration/computer responsibilities Registering and logging vehicles leaving site.

Check vehicle loading manifests for changes.

Make load amendments on system.

Generate driver paperwork. filing, data entry, reporting, and record management.

Qualifications Ability to use initiative.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.

Strong admin and IT skills.

Intermediate Numeracy and Literacy.
