CMK Resources is seeking a Senior Storage Engineer to support one of our premier technology partners and its enterprise customer in the London financial district.
This engineer will be responsible for planning and executing complex file and block storage migrations within a highly regulated, business-critical environment.
The ideal candidate will bring strong hands‑on experience across enterprise SAN and NAS platforms, with Ever Pure, formerly Pure Storage, experience strongly preferred.
This role requires someone who can own migration activities from discovery and design through implementation, cutover, validation, documentation, and production handoff.
- Location and Work Model
- Onsite in the London financial district
- Candidates must be able to work regularly from the customer location
- Some evening or weekend work may be required for planned migrations and production cutovers
- Security Requirements
- Must currently hold, or be eligible to obtain, the security clearance required to work within a regulated banking environment
- Must be able to successfully complete all client‑required background checks, identity verification, and security screening prior to onboarding
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute enterprise file and block storage migrations across SAN and NAS environments
- Lead migration activities from discovery and assessment through design, implementation, cutover, validation, and production handoff
- Support Ever Pure Flash Array and Flash Blade environments, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management
- Migrate file‑based workloads using protocols such as NFS, SMB, and CIFS
- Migrate block‑based workloads supporting VMware, databases, physical servers, and enterprise applications
- Develop migration plans, technical runbooks, rollback procedures, validation steps, and cutover schedules
- Coordinate migration activities across storage, virtualization, server, network, database, application, security, and vendor teams
- Perform storage provisioning, zoning, host connectivity, multipathing, LUN masking, and datastore configuration
- Validate data integrity, permissions, application connectivity, performance, and availability following migrations
- Troubleshoot SAN, NAS, host‑path, replication, protocol, performance, and capacity issues
- Support storage replication, snapshots, disaster recovery, and business continuity requirements
- Assist with firmware, software, and hardware lifecycle upgrades
- Monitor storage capacity, latency, throughput, alerts, and overall platform health
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, migration trackers, operational procedures, and environment diagrams
- Participate in change management, incident management, and production‑readiness reviews
- Provide clear technical updates to customer stakeholders, project teams, and leadership
- Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of enterprise storage engineering experience
- Strong hands‑on experience performing complex file and block storage migrations
- Deep understanding of SAN and NAS architectures
- Experience with Fibre Channel, i SCSI, NFS, SMB, and CIFS protocols
- Experience supporting VMware v Sphere and ESXi storage environments
- Strong experience with zoning, host connectivity, multipathing, LUN provisioning, and datastore presentation
- Experience developing and executing migration runbooks, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and post‑migration validation
- Strong troubleshooting experience across storage arrays, SAN fabrics, host paths, protocols, performance, and replication
- Experience operating within large, highly regulated, or business‑critical enterprise environments
- Strong customer‑facing communication, documentation, and cross‑functional coordination skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of migration activities from start to finish
- Ability to work onsite in the London financial district
- Preferred Qualifications
- Hands‑on Ever Pure Flash Array and/or Flash Blade experience
- Experience migrating workloads to or from Ever Pure platforms
- Experience with Dell EMC Power Max, VMAX, Power Scale, Isilon, Unity, or Power Store
- Experience with Net App ONTAP, IBM Storage, HPE, VAST, Qumulo, or other enterprise file and block platforms
- Experience with Cisco MDS and/or Brocade Fibre Channel switching
- Experience with Pure1 or comparable storage monitoring and analytics platforms
- Experience with Active Cluster, Active DR, synchronous replication, or asynchronous replication
- Experience with enterprise file‑migration tools such as Data Dobi, Komprise, Robocopy, rsync, Net App XCP, or similar technologies
- Experience with automation using Ansible, Power Shell, Python, or REST APIs
- Prior experience supporting financial services, banking, or other highly regulated environments
- Experience serving as a resident engineer, migration lead, storage consultant, or embedded customer‑facing engineer
- Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior‑level storage engineer who is equally comfortable working hands‑on in the environment and communicating with customer stakeholders.
This person should be able to assess an existing platform, identify dependencies and migration risks, build a detailed execution plan, lead cutovers, troubleshoot issues under pressure, and ensure the new environment is stable and fully documented before handoff.
