Ideal role for a CCNA or CCNP level engineer looking to expand knowledge of network, security, and cloud technologies. The Network Operations Engineer II will support CME’s network infrastructure through monitoring, troubleshooting, and change implementation using industry‑standard best practices. The engineer ensures the ongoing operation of services for end users and customers, keeping service within agreed SLAs and in alignment with policies, processes, and standards. This role is key to maintaining platform stability and sustained delivery to clients and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as first responder, helping to organize and control incident response.
- Day‑to‑day monitoring and management of platforms to meet internal SLAs, KPIs, and quality standards.
- Handle technical support issues of simple to medium complexity.
- Support network faults and bring them to resolution in a multi‑vendor, multi‑appliance infrastructure.
- Work closely with other IT teams, vendors, and service providers to resolve incidents and service requests.
- Perform day‑to‑day technical operations, including network and firewall troubleshooting, scripting changes, infrastructure and firmware updates.
- Maintain a positive attitude and high level of customer service at all times.
- Contribute to the development of operational systems and processes.
- Maintain accurate troubleshooting records through industry‑standard ticketing systems.
- Write technical SOPs and other documentation.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2nd‑line NOC experience in a fast‑paced enterprise environment.
- Support experience with LAN & WAN technologies (R/S, OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP, Layer 2 architectures).
- Experience with firewalls and security posture (ACLs, industry best practice, internet architectures).
- Knowledge of VPN (IPSec and SSL).
- Understanding of wireless technologies and standards such as ISO and ITIL.
- Experience supporting or working with cloud technologies.
- Desirable: Enterprise R&S certification (Cisco, Juniper, etc.), Enterprise firewall certification (Palo Alto, Fortinet, etc.), Enterprise wireless certification (Aruba, Meraki, etc.).
- Experience with load balancing (F5 LB, iRules, persistence, etc.).
- Cloud certifications – GCP (preferred), AWS, Azure.
- Experience with toolsets such as SolarWinds or similar.
- Wireshark Certified or other packet capture experience.
- Knowledge of multicast protocols (PIM‑SM, MSDP, AnycastRP).
