We are recruiting a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative machinery solutions across a variety of industry sectors. You will be responsible for the electrical design of control systems for automated packing machinery, ensuring high quality and reliability in our products.

You will experience working within supportive teams in a dynamic environment, working on cutting‑edge projects with short timescales. With huge variety in your role, you will see your designs through from concept to 1st off prototype to series production.

Responsibilities

Within our Electrical Design team, we focus on providing high quality Designs of Electrical systems ensuring that they are safe, accurate, innovative, cost effective and produced on time to support project delivery. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will:

  • Design and Development:
    • Design electrical control systems and components in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulations.
    • Create detailed electrical system schematics, panel layout drawings and diagrams using CAD software.
    • Attend design reviews and DFMEA meetings to ensure design integrity and reliability.
    • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, programmers and electrical engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into overall project designs.
  • Feasibility Studies and Analysis:
    • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses to support design decisions.
    • Perform simulations and testing to validate designs and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Generate technical documentation, reports, and specifications for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Prepare technical files and SISTEMA reports for compliance and documentation.
    • Develop HDS (Hardware Design Specification) and FDS (Functional Design Specification) documentation.
  • Technical Support:
    • Provide technical support during the manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases of projects.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Create machine risk assessments to ensure safety compliance.
    • Collaborate with teams to ensure machines are compliant to the latest standards.
    • Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in electrical engineering.
Education Requirements

Minimum HNC/HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.

Experience Requirements
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for schematic design.
  • Experience in electrical control system design.
  • Familiarity with safety system design principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel).
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault and Autodesk Inventor for document management and 3D modelling. Desirable, training will be provided.
  • Familiarity with Siemens PLC control systems (TIA Portal) and Allen Bradley PLC control systems (Rockwell Automation suite) would be desirable.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, including:
    • BS EN60204-1 Safety of machinery. Electrical equipment of machines
    • BS EN ISO 13849-1 Safety of machinery - Safety‑related parts of control systems
    • NFPA 79 Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery
    • UL508A Industrial Control Panels
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, components, and systems.
