CME Group is seeking a Staff QA Engineer to set the strategic vision for quality assurance practices across the Trade Dissemination value chain. As a Staff QA you will define our product QA strategy, drive best practices, and help ensure successful, high‑quality feature deliveries across our Trade Dissemination products that allow our customers to receive their trading information and manage their risk in real‑time. Our customers rely on these systems, so reliability is critical.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the Quality Vision: Serve as the technical authority defining the QA strategy for the Trade Dissemination value chain and influencing product and engineering leadership on direction and prioritisation.
  • Drive High-Impact Initiatives: Take accountability for the successful delivery of Trade Dissemination initiatives. You will capture and communicate complex risks and dependencies while ensuring senior leadership is proactively informed.
  • Lead on Complex Root Cause Analysis: Lead and drive product level investigations to resolution during incidents and investigations demonstrating calm and decisive leadership.
  • Set Engineering Quality Standards: Champion a culture of delivering high quality engineering solutions with an emphasis on automation and repeatability. Identify and drive process improvements, mentoring other engineers and contributing to critical architectural decisions from a quality assurance and testability perspective.

What We're Looking For

  • Demonstrable professional experience leading the QA function providing technical oversight and strategic direction for a highly technical team.
  • Distributed Systems Testing: Experience designing tests for resilience, fault tolerance, and data consistency across distributed, cloud-native architectures.
  • Observability and Testability: Expert use of monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) to validate system quality in production and pre‑production environments.
  • Expert level skills in combining quality engineering with the ability to quickly absorb complex business and technology concepts, and translate them into actionable QA strategies and delivery plans.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align senior leadership and principal engineers.
  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to connect technical decisions to business impact and long‑term goals.
  • Domain Expertise: Experience with ultra‑low latency (ULL) trading platforms or large‑scale financial applications in capital markets.
  • Knowledge of cloud‑native architecture, particularly on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a strong command of infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  • CI/CD Leadership: Experience architecting and optimising CI/CD pipelines for mission‑critical services.
