Are you a hands-on assembler with good mechanical skills and some experience working with basic electrical or electronic components? We are recruiting for an Electro-Mechanical Assembler to join a global engineering business in Melksham, supporting the assembly and testing of safety-critical products used within the rail industry. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and is confident using hand tools, mechanical assembly equipment and basic electrical/electronic components.

The Role

  • Working as part of a skilled production team, you will be responsible for assembling, wiring and testing products to detailed instructions and quality standards.
  • Mechanical assembly of components and sub-assemblies.
  • Using a range of hand tools to complete assembly work.
  • Basic electrical and electronic assembly, including wiring and connections.
  • Following assembly instructions, drawings and technical specifications.
  • Fitting and replacing mechanical and electrical components.
  • Identifying and replacing faulty or damaged parts.
  • Carrying out basic fault finding and product testing.
  • Using ATE equipment to test completed products.
  • Checking completed work to ensure it meets quality and specification requirements.
  • Maintaining accurate production records and documentation.
  • Working safely and maintaining a clean and organised work area.

About You

We're looking for practical, hands-on candidates who are comfortable working across both mechanical and basic electrical/electronic assembly. You may have experience as a:

  • Electro-Mechanical Assembler
  • Mechanical Assembler
  • Electrical Assembler
  • Production Technician
  • Panel Wirer
  • Test Technician
  • PCB Technician
  • Engineering Technician
  • Manufacturing Operative with electrical experience

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous experience in an assembly, manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Good practical skills and confidence using a range of hand tools.
  • Experience with basic electrical wiring, connections or electronic components.
  • The ability to read and follow engineering drawings or assembly instructions.
  • Good attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.
  • Experience carrying out basic testing or fault finding.
  • Soldering experience would be advantageous, particularly IPC-A-610, but is not essential for the right candidate.
  • A willingness to learn new products and processes.

The key requirement is a practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work across both mechanical assembly and basic electrical/electronic tasks.
