About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading channel-only provider of third-party IT maintenance services, who are looking for an experienced Field Data Support Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong server, storage and networking experience who enjoys working in the field, solving technical issues and delivering exceptional customer service. You'll be responsible for supporting a wide range of enterprise IT systems, ensuring they are maintained and restored quickly while meeting agreed service levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve faults across server, storage and network infrastructure.
- Attend customer sites to provide hardware maintenance, break-fix support and technical assistance.
- Take ownership of customer incidents from initial diagnosis through to resolution, ensuring Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are achieved.
- Investigate technical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Arrange replacement parts and coordinate repairs where required.
- Provide technical support and guidance to customers and internal teams.
- Assist with pre-sales technical support and solution design when required.
- Work closely with the Service Desk, Service Delivery, Logistics and Purchasing teams to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Maintain accurate service records, documentation and customer updates using internal systems.
- Keep technical knowledge up to date with current technologies and industry developments.
- Participate in the regional 24/7 on-call rota and provide out-of-hours support when required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience supporting enterprise server, storage and networking hardware.
- Previous experience within the IT hardware maintenance or field services industry.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
- Well organised with strong attention to detail.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including participation in an out-of-hours support rota.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting equipment from one or more of the following manufacturers: IBM, Cisco, Dell Technologies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), NetApp, Fujitsu, EMC, Hitachi, Sun Microsystems / Oracle.
This is a full-time permanent position Monday - Friday with an on call rota (approx) 1 week in 5. A driving licence is essential for this role. The areas covered will be Southeast London and the surrounding areas. Approximately 1 - 2 calls per day.
