Our client, a well-established and globally recognised precision engineering manufacturer is looking to recruit an experienced CNC Miller to join their production team in Devizes. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-precision manufacturing environment producing specialist components for demanding industries.
The Role
As a CNC Miller, you will primarily work within the Milling Department, operating a variety of CNC machining centres using Heidenhain and Siemens control systems. You will be responsible for producing high-precision components to strict drawing tolerances while maintaining exceptional quality standards. There may also be opportunities for cross-training to support other departments where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC milling machines using approved programs and methods of manufacture
- Produce components in line with engineering drawings and specifications
- Carry out in-process inspection
- Use measuring equipment including VMRs and CMMs, recording data as required
- Complete all works order route cards, inspection documentation (DIPs) and update the ERP system accurately
- Conduct daily machine checks and report faults to the Supervisor or Deputy Supervisor
- Maintain clear communication regarding job progress and any issues
- Provide detailed handovers when sharing work
- Adhere to all Health & Safety procedures, PPE requirements and 5S standards
Requirements
- Previous experience in CNC Milling (essential)
- Experience with Heidenhain and/or Siemens controls
- Recognised engineering apprenticeship or time-served background
- Strong understanding of precision engineering machinery and safe working practices
- Experience working in a high-tolerance manufacturing environment
- Confident using inspection equipment and reading engineering drawings
- Basic PC/ERP system skills
- Methodical, detail-oriented and quality-focused approach
- Positive, proactive and team-oriented attitude
Working Hours
Initial training on day shift (Monday to Friday) moving to a rotating double day shift pattern:
- Earlies: 6:00am - 2:30pm (Mon-Thu), 6:00am - 11:00am (Fri)
- Lates: 2:30pm - 11:00pm (Mon-Thu), 11:00am - 4:00pm (Fri)
