My client is seeking a Manufacturing Manager to join their leadership team in Swindon. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of multiple production departments, leading managers and their teams. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a key role in driving continuous improvement, developing people, and ensuring manufacturing operations run efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop multiple production departments, providing guidance, coaching, and support to departmental managers and supervisors.
  • Drive performance across key operational metrics including safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and cost.
  • Plan labour and production capacity to meet changing customer demand and business requirements.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve operational performance.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to resolve operational challenges and ensure production objectives are achieved.
  • Manage departmental budgets, forecasting, and expenditure to ensure effective cost control.
  • Monitor manufacturing performance, analysing key performance indicators and implementing improvement plans where required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop teams, creating a positive culture focused on accountability, engagement, and high performance.
  • Manage supplier and contractor relationships to ensure equipment, services, and facilities support operational requirements.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience within a Manufacturing Manager or Production Manager role is essential.
  • Proven experience leading large teams within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, labour management, budgeting, and operational performance management.
  • Demonstrable experience driving continuous improvement initiatives, with Lean or Six Sigma knowledge advantageous.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop others.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing costs and improving operational efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
  • Good understanding of health and safety legislation within a manufacturing environment; IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Experience using ERP or manufacturing systems together with Microsoft Office applications.
  • A proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach with excellent decision-making skills.

Working hours for this role are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7.30am-4.00pm.
