CMD Ltd (part of the Luceco Group) is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of electrical systems across our Rotherham manufacturing site. This is a hands‑on engineering role with real impact on production continuity, electrical safety and compliance in a live manufacturing environment.
The Role
- You’ll play a critical part in keeping production running smoothly by combining planned preventative maintenance, responsive fault‑finding and continuous improvement activity across plant and machinery.
- Working closely with production, engineering and maintenance teams, you’ll ensure electrical systems are safe, compliant and reliable — reducing downtime and supporting long‑term performance.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out PPM on electrical systems and production equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults on machinery, plant and control systems
- Maintaining and troubleshooting motors, drives, sensors, control panels and distribution systems
- Supporting PLC‑controlled and automated equipment
- Responding quickly to breakdowns to minimise production disruption
- Inspecting and testing electrical installations to BS 7671 (18th Edition)
- Supporting installation, commissioning and upgrades of electrical systems
- Ensuring compliance with Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and site procedures
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation
- Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities
- Liaising with production teams, engineers, contractors and suppliers
- Supporting product development and reviewing wiring diagrams and technical documentation
What You’ll Be Accountable For
- Reliable electrical operation with minimal unplanned downtime
- Full regulatory and safety compliance across all electrical work
- Effective, sustainable resolution of electrical faults
- Continuous improvement in asset reliability and efficiency
- Acting as a trusted technical expert within the business
What We’re Looking For
- You’ll be an experienced Electrical Engineer from an industrial or manufacturing background, comfortable working in a live production environment.
Essential:
- Electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND or equivalent)
- Experience in electrical maintenance within manufacturing or industrial settings
- Strong electrical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- Strong safety awareness and regulatory knowledge
- Flexible approach to working hours (including out‑of‑hours when required)
- Confident communicator and team player
Desirable:
- PLC diagnostics and basic programming experience
- Inspection & Testing qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2391)
- Experience with automation, drives and control systems
- Familiarity with CAD or electrical design software
