We’re looking for a hands-on Junior Business Analyst to join CMC Markets’ technology team, focusing on pricing and risk applications. Working in an agile environment, you’ll translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories and testable solutions, connecting product, development, quantitative, dealing and vendor teams from gap analysis through to delivery.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the product, business analysis and development teams to analyse, collate and produce business requirements, including gap analysis on a range of project and product initiatives.
- Communicate effectively among software developers, quantitative analysts, dealing desks, other stakeholders in the company and external vendors.
- Capture business requirements, produce software requirement specifications, and scope out testing requirements suitable for iterative developments.
- Support the management of the development life cycle, assisting the lead BA on monitoring the development team, tracking user story status and feeding into the project/iteration plans.
- Maintain high-quality documentation on the developed features of a system for risk assessment and auditing purposes.
- Convey to the business and product teams the impact of suggested changes to help determine the impact and delivery timeframes.
- Support user-training activities and related documentation.
- Keep the Lead Business Analyst aware of any escalations, issues, and ad-hoc changes as soon as they arise.
- Provide support to other members of the Business Analysis community and collaborate to achieve the CMC Groups business objectives.

- Maintain personal/professional development to meet the changing demands of the role, including all relevant regulatory and legislative training.
- Provide a clear, fair and consistent high-quality service that maintains all CMC group values.
- Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required.
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Financial Services background is essential.
- Knowledge of FX Spot trading and Exchange Traded Products and related platforms for Equities, Futures and Options is highly advantageous.
- Understanding of Spread betting and/or CFD trading is beneficial.
- Strong commercial experience as a Business Analyst embedded in a technology team.
- Experience of conducting and supporting test activities advantageous.
- Proven experience of applying Agile software development methodologies is essential.
- Good working knowledge of Jira, Confluence, Miro and Excel, and SQL advantageous.
- Experience using AI tools to support analysis advantageous.
- Team player with the ability to work independently as well as supporting the Lead BA.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership of small tasks.
- Ability to produce detailed business requirements, configuration management, specifications, Epics and User Stories to the highest standard is essential.
- Comfortable with contributing to technical and design discussions with product, developers and business analysis teams.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work at a fast pace under challenging deadlines.
- Ability to communicate through all levels of the project line and with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate with development and testers at a technical level.
- Ability to build strong professional relationships across the business, to enable cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to present new ideas and challenge existing processes where appropriate.
