We are partnering with a highly profitable, well established SME based in St Albans to recruit a forward thinking Finance Manager. This is an outstanding opportunity for a talented, qualified accountant who wants to step beyond pure reporting and gain genuine end-to-end exposure to how a business runs. Working closely with an impressive and supportive CFO, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day finance operations while contributing to board reporting, investor updates and continuous improvement across the function. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead month end close activities, including key journals and full reconciliation of major balance sheet accounts.
  • Produce accurate and timely management accounts, maintaining a robust fixed asset register (acquisitions, disposals, depreciation).
  • Prepare monthly reporting packs and concise financial insights for senior leadership and board discussions.
  • Partner closely with the CFO on board level reporting, investor communications and ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Coordinate monthly payroll with the external provider and verify outputs prior to payment.
  • Manage HMRC submissions and prepare quarterly VAT returns accurately and on schedule.
  • Perform daily bank postings and reconciliations to ensure up-to-date cash visibility.
  • Review supplier payment runs and support short term cashflow forecasting.
  • Prepare year end schedules, assist with audit, and offer guidance to the wider team.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance finance processes, systems and internal controls, supporting ongoing improvement.
