CMB Recruitment is working with a global client based in North Down that is seeking a Research + Development Engineer to join their team and assist with the development of new and existing products. Reporting to the Head of R+D, this is an important role in shaping the future direction of the product range. Given the sector in which our client operates, we are ideally seeking someone with experience of plastics, polymers or composites.

THE ROLE

  • Carry out performance testing on new and existing products by following standard operating procedures.
  • Carry out all required work to progress and complete research and development projects, both internally and externally.
  • Develop handover procedures for innovation products going into production, and revise existing standard operating procedures as and when required.
  • Develop detailed and accurate bills of materials for newly developed engineering products.
  • Work with the development team on the development of new products.
  • Manage projects from concept through to production and identify key gate stages.
  • Liaise with material suppliers regarding correct material selection and desired physical properties.
  • Maintain detailed records of all work carried out for development, prototyping and testing.
  • Proactive in developing knowledge surrounding polymer processing and material selection.
  • Provide technical assistance to various departments when required.
  • Assist with any engineering related tasks required.
  • Compile reports for internal and external customers.
  • Present findings of work to key stakeholders, including local and global teams.
  • Any other appropriate task as required.

THE PERSON

  • Essential: Hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical fields i.e. Material Engineering, Chemistry or similar.
  • Minimum of 1 year's experience in production development.
