Contract: Full Time & Permanent

Hours of work: Monday – Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum (based on experience and ability)

The Job

As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an Electrical Estimator to join an established Estimating Team.

As Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for evaluating project specifications, analysing electrical system requirements, and providing accurate cost estimates for electrical projects.

The position plays a crucial role in ensuring our electrical projects are budgeted effectively and completed within the established financial parameters.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze project plans, specifications and electrical designs to prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labour and equipment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
  • Work with the mechanical estimators to help produce robust and accurate M&E project tender bids.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to determine the best value for the company and project.
  • Prepare detailed written estimates, including breakouts for labour, materials and overhead costs.
  • Assess potential risks and provide recommendations to mitigate cost overruns.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, building codes, and regulations.
  • Ensure estimates are aligned with client specifications, scope of work, and budget constraints.
  • Provide support during the bidding process, including clarifying estimates and assisting with client enquiries.
  • Track project costs during construction to ensure adherence to estimates, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of historical project data for future reference and cost comparison.

Desirable / Beneficial

  • Proven experience (5 years) as an electrical estimator in a construction or electrical contracting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials and installation practices.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g. Trimble, Active Take-Off etc.)
  • Familiarity in construction software (e.g. Accubid, Bluebeam, Procore etc.)
  • Excellent understanding of construction codes, regulations and safety standards
  • Experience in setting up and using electronic document management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Software (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to multitask
