CMap is a fast growing software company helping project based businesses win, deliver, and manage work profitably. At our core, we're a software company. That means engineering excellence matters to us. We're focused on building clean, scalable, high performing systems that solve real problems for our users. Our engineering team is trusted to make smart technical decisions, contribute to product thinking, and continuously raise the bar. We invest in quality, not just speed, and we create space for learning, innovation, and doing things the right way. We're proud of our product and even prouder of our people. Collaboration, openness, and input from across the business drive both our culture and our success. We keep things friendly and informal, but we're serious about building something great together.
We're growing fast. Our engineering team ships constantly, and we need a QA Analyst who can move at the same pace; someone who takes ownership, speaks up when something's not right, and actually enjoys being part of the action. Our engineering team is structured into small, focused squads typically three or four engineers and a QA working together closely. You'll embed into one of those squads, test real features that real customers use, and have a genuine say in what ships. We don't use Scrum. We use Shape Up - week build cycles followed by a 2-week cool-off. It's a rhythm that gives you space to do work properly, rather than just sprinting towards the next standup. If you've not worked with it before, we'll show you the ropes. Most people prefer it once they try it. You won't be the first QA through the door. You'll be joining a QA function that already has structure, experience, and a strong relationship with engineering. The culture here is collaborative; developers and QAs work hand-in-hand, not in opposition.
Responsibilities
- Manual testing end-to-end from picking up a ticket to signing off a feature; you own your testing work and do it properly.
- Testing like a real user; we test from the front end, thinking about how customers actually experience the product.
- Working closely with developers; you'll sit alongside them, review changes together, and catch issues before they become problems.
Qualifications
- Experience testing SaaS products and a solid grasp of the SDLC are the foundations. Beyond that, we care more about how you work than how long your CV is.
- Comfortable with Postman for API testing and SQL Server for data validation.
- A clear, confident communicator; you can write a bug report a developer can act on, and have a direct conversation when needed.
- Bonus points for ISTQB certification, automation experience, or exposure to performance testing, but none of these are dealbreakers.
What we offer
- Private medical & dental insurance: Supporting your health and wellbeing with access to private care.
- Life assurance: Providing extra financial security for you and your loved ones.
- Help@Hand: 24/7 support for your health and wellbeing.
- Enhanced parental leave: Offering time and support when it matters most.
- Reward Gateway: Access to discounts on a wide range of everyday purchases.
- Team outings and events: Regular chances to connect and unwind.
- Manchester city-centre office: A modern WeWork space with great facilities and free barista coffee.
