About the Role

As part of the Finance function, the Purchase Ledger Finance Assistant is responsible for the timely and accurate processing, validation, and control of supplier costs and invoices.

Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, you will ensure costs are processed in line with agreed rates and contractual terms, maintaining data integrity and resolving discrepancies efficiently.

The role plays a key part in supporting financial accuracy, maintaining strong supplier relationships, controlling costs, and ensuring month‑end activities are completed in line with business deadlines.

  • Supplier statements are regularly reconciled with outstanding items resolved promptly.

  • Core Responsibilities
  • Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Validate, review, and approve supplier costs against agreed rates and contractual terms.
  • Ensure all supplier cost data within CRM and finance systems is complete, accurate, and prepared for billing.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Monitor profit margins and investigate variances, highlighting opportunities for improvement.
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve pricing, invoice, and payment queries.
  • Manage ad hoc payments, including Pay Pal and Precision payments, in accordance with business requirements.
  • Maintain accurate supplier records and ensure all financial documentation is appropriately recorded.
  • Support month‑end close processes and ensure all deadlines are achieved.
  • Answer inbound calls and respond professionally to supplier and internal stakeholder enquiries.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers and colleagues.
  • Work towards departmental KPIs and performance targets.
  • Remain flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines.

You are highly organised, detail‑oriented, and enjoy working in a fast‑paced finance environment.

You are comfortable handling large volumes of financial information, investigating discrepancies, and building effective relationships with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
