Are you an experienced payroll professional with a passion for systems optimisation? An established organisation in north Portsmouth is seeking a Payroll & Systems Manager to lead their payroll function and enhance their HR and payroll systems. Responsibilities

  • Lead the end‑to‑end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK legislation, while driving system enhancements.
  • Act as the expert resource for payroll queries, supporting staff and management with payroll and system‑related issues.
  • Manage and develop payroll systems, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to optimise data flow, reporting, and audit processes.
  • Support system upgrades, new implementations, and ongoing system health to foster continual improvement.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience managing payroll operations within the UK, with a solid understanding of PAYE, NIC, pensions, and statutory payments.
  • Strong technical expertise with payroll systems, including implementation or improvement projects.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical capabilities, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Confident communicator, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience supervising or supporting team members is advantageous but not essential.
