CMA Recruitment Group has partnered exclusively with a multi-faceted business based in Havant to recruit an experienced Payroll Assistant for a short-term temporary assignment.

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced payroll professional looking for a small piece of interim work, providing holiday cover within a friendly and supportive team.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the weekly payroll process, ensuring it is completed accurately and on time while the permanent postholder is on annual leave.

What will the Payroll Assistant role involve?

Processing weekly payroll for approximately 120 employees.

Gathering information from clocking cards and validating payroll data.

Calculating overtime payments and shift allowances.

Completing RTI submissions and pension uploads.

Processing payroll through BACS.

Producing and issuing employee payslips.

Responding to any payroll-related queries that arise during the payroll cycle.

Suitable Candidate for the Payroll Assistant vacancy

Previous end-to-end payroll experience using Sage Payroll.

Strong understanding of payroll legislation and processes.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively at all levels.

Able to work independently and confidently manage the payroll process.

One-off temporary assignment to provide annual leave cover. 8 hours in total, to be worked as either one full day or two half days.

Assignment required during the week commencing 21st September 2026.
