Accounts & Tax Assistant

CMA is delighted to be working with a well-established independent firm of accountants who are looking to appoint an Accounts & Tax Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team. This varied role offers exposure across all areas of general practice – ideal for someone looking to develop within a close-knit environment and gain broad experience across accounts, tax, bookkeeping, and VAT. The firm has a team of six, qualified or equivalent, offering plenty of opportunity for hands-on learning and mentorship. What will the Accounts & Tax Assistant role involve? Preparation of year-end accounts for a wide range of clients (limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships) Preparation of corporation tax and personal tax returns Bookkeeping, VAT and CIS returns Liaising with clients directly to obtain records and provide updates Supporting the bookkeeping and tax teams with ad hoc tasks Working alongside senior accountants and managers to ensure deadlines are met Suitable Candidate for the Accounts & Tax Assistant vacancy: Experience within an accountancy practice (essential) AAT qualified / studying, or looking to study ACCA or AAT (full study support provided) Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to learning A good understanding of bookkeeping and VAT principles Confident using accounting software and Excel A flexible, team-focused attitude with excellent attention to detail Additional benefits and information: Full study support for ACCA or AAT Full or part-time considered 9:00am – 5:30pm office-based role Supportive, collaborative team with excellent mentoring Broad, hands-on role covering accounts, tax, and bookkeeping Long-term development within a stable and friendly firm CMA Recruitment Group is acting as a recruitment agency in relation to this role.
