Head of Operations

CEVA Logistics has been awarded a major new contract with a high‑profile client and our flagship e‑commerce operation in Derby is looking for an exceptional, forward‑thinking Head of Operations. This role is a career‑defining opportunity for a results‑driven leader to shape and optimise a high‑performing operation, driving excellence across safety, profitability and productivity while consistently delivering against demanding contractual commitments.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

Reporting to the Senior General Manager, you will lead a management team of four Operations Managers, around 300 indirect reports and agency resources. You will create a culture of employee engagement, high performance, continuous improvement and succession planning, providing coaching, training and development opportunities. With a focus on operational efficiencies you will drive outstanding customer service excellence, champion health, safety and quality activities, lead and implement cost‑saving initiatives through effective LEAN practices and meet financial KPI targets. You will act as the main point of contact for all operational performance activities, investigate problematic issues or failures, implement solutions and protective measures to mitigate future risk, and take ownership of all monthly, quarterly and yearly business reviews. You will create reporting packs for the customer on operational KPIs, metrics and overall performance to ensure activities are in line with operational and contractual budgetary targets. In addition, you will collaborate with senior management to support new commercial opportunities, projects and value‑added solutions, with a focus on organic growth, site development and revenue maximisation. You will help create, define and deploy operational strategies aligned with product line objectives and participate in wider project support when required.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Our ideal candidate will have significant operational management experience, ideally leading operational teams within a fast‑paced warehousing, ecommerce or 3PL environment. You will possess excellent leadership skills, with demonstrable experience of driving innovation, change and continuous improvement initiatives. You will have a strong customer focus, be capable of building credible internal and external relationships, confident in challenging the status quo, skilled at managing complex matters and experienced at implementing corrective actions. You will be a natural communicator and presenter, confident in showcasing operational successes and change initiatives to both internal and external stakeholder groups. The role requires an individual who is resilient, with natural problem‑solving, decision‑making, influencing and data analysis skills.
