As our External Sales Account Manager, your primary accountability will be the development and overall management of Sales activities for a defined customer segment, predominantly across the North of England. You will proactively identify and establish relationships with prospective new customers while managing and developing relationships with existing customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish strong working relationships with new and existing customers, ensuring regular and proactive contact.
- Contribute to establishing and executing Commercial action plans in accordance with overall Commercial and business strategies.
- Proactively identify and pursue new business leads, collaborating with internal stakeholders as required.
- Establish effective working relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure timely processing of customer requests.
- Ensure information within internal systems and CRM is entered and maintained accurately.
- Provide regular commentary of business relating to assigned customer accounts.
- Analyse statistical data, identifying opportunities to develop new business.
- Support ongoing review of processes and procedures, contributing to process improvement initiatives.
This is a Regional external sales position, with an expectation of regular travel across your dedicated region, and occasional national travel as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrable experience in an external Sales / Account Management environment (Shipping and Logistics sector experience would be advantageous).
- Strong business development skills with the confidence to identify and pursue new leads.
- Excellent Customer Service skills with the ability to build rapport.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to spot trends and identify new business opportunities.
- Excellent communication skills with experience of building effective relationships.
- A resilient approach, able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Flexibility in your approach to respond positively to differing customer requirements.
- A natural problem solver with the ability to identify root causes and resolve issues.
- Competent Microsoft Office Skills.
- Valid UK drivers licence due to extensive travel requirements.
